Testing! Testing! Testing! and a Freebie

Good Morning from Chicago!

I don't live in Chicago, but I'm visiting my sister and picking up my youngest who has been spending her spring break in Chicago.

I found a little extra time this morning before we head out to brunch to cross off something that has been on my to-do list for awhile now.  I have been wanting to make a table to keep track of which common core standards my students have mastered in Math.  (I know, I know, this should have been done at the beginning of the year.  But I have this little problem called procrastination.)  Up until now I have been keeping track of where my students are with a file folder, their names and some velcro.  (I will share this idea later, after I get home and can take a picture of the file folder.)

Anyways, I thought that another teacher might be able to use this.  I made a table that lists the common core standard at the top and has a box under it for each student for you to write the date the student takes the pre test and the date the student passes the post test.

My First Manic Monday Freebie of 2013

Happy Monday!

If you read my previous post, you know that I started back to school last Thursday.  Today was our first "real" day back, where we followed a normal schedule.  The kids seemed to be in shock at first, but they were soon back to normal.  I needed something for my measurement center this week.  So I made a center with some of my winter clip art.  I decided that it would be perfect to share with you for Manic Monday.

Tomorrow is my student teacher's first day.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that it goes well.  this is my 2nd time to have a student teacher.  My 1st one was wonderful.  I am hoping this time goes as well.  I will keep you posted on how it goes.

My First Freebielicious Freebie

Good Saturday morning everyone!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  I know mine is, I love creating freebies to share instead of cleaning my house.  This past week, I had a Gingerbread theme.  So I made this Memory Game for my students to play during Math centers.  I hope that your students like it also.

A Manic Monday Freebie

Happy Monday!

I have just begun my 4th week of school today.  I have to say I have one of the best classes ever.  I was sitting at a table today, just watching them.  It was so wonderful.  Everyone was on task doing what I had asked them to do.  There was a hum in the air of little ones hard at work.  I was very impressed.

Because of my good fortune of having such a terrific class this year, I have decided to share the graph I made with my class last week as a freebie.  The students graphed their favorite color.

I *heart* Walmart and Freebie Friday!

As we (my husband and I) were walking into Walmart the other day, we saw the school supplies.  My husband said to me, "So I'm leaving you here while I go get what we need."  You know I said, "Of course."  What was he expecting, he has been married to the teacher for more than 20 years.  Anyways, I found some great headers for 88 cents each.

I also found some shape cards.  So I thought I would put the shapes headers or the color headers on the pocket chart and have my students sort the cards.  But there weren't any cards for  the number headers.  So I made some tens frames cards for my students to sort under the number headers.  I am sharing these with you as a freebie.  Even if you don't have the headers, I thought you could make the ten frames and put magnets on the back and have your students match the ten frames with magnetic numbers.  (I may actually do both at the beginning of the year.)

A Counting Game for Beginning of the Year

Sorry that my Freebie Friday is a little late this week.  It has been a very busy day.  I've finally gotten a chance to blog.  So here I am linking up with TBA's Freebie Friday.






I have made two different games for my students to play during the first week of school.  I am hoping that I can use them to teach my students how to use dice at math centers.  One of the games has numbers for the students to color in to correspond with the number they roll on a die.    The other game is a game board with numbers for the students to cover with a marker (i.e. beans, buttons, small erasers)  I have my students play games like these a lot at math centers, so I'm hoping to use these games to teach them how to play games like these.

Fun with Identifying Numbers

It's Friday!  (at least I'm pretty sure it is, I tend to lose track of what day of the week it is during the summer)  Anyways, you know what that means.  It is time for a Freebie Friday.   I have linked up with Teaching Blog Addict for their Freebie Friday.






 I have 2 freebies this week.  Both are card games to play with your students during small groups or let your students play at center time.  I made 2 because there is a "girl" one and a "boy" one.  Each of them has cards with the numbers 0 to 20 on them.  There are also 6 cards that have the students do a certain action.  You mix up the cards and place them in a pile in the middle of the table.  The students take turns picking a card.  If the student knows the number he/she may keep the card.  If the student picks an "action" card, he/she must do the action, then he/she may keep the card.  I hope you and your students have fun playing the games.
